7 Train Petition
Council Members Protest The MTA'S Decision to Stop 7 Train Service For 13 Straight Weekends |
|
Sign Speaker Christine C. Quinn, Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer and Council Member Peter Koo's petition asking the MTA stop its plan to close the 7 train for thirteen weekends in a row
The MTA is once again failing to recognize the lifeline that the 7 train represents to so many Queens residents and businesses. The MTA's plan to close the 7 train for thirteen weekends in a row is a terrible idea, they should immediately change plans for work that would leave the 7 train down for thirteen consecutive weekends. Making matters worse, the MTA implemented a similar plan in 2010. We protested it then, and we stand again today in total opposition to this idea and will do all we can to force the MTA to reverse course. Thirteen weekends in a row without the 7 train is too much for Queens businesses and residents to bear. The community should have the chance to offer input when planning weekend service interruptions. In these tough economic times, concern for businesses and cultural institutions affected by this decision must be a top priority.
